R.E.M. – Athens, 1984

Before R.E.M. became an arena band, they were still so tied to Athens that their own company was literally called R.E.M./Athens, Ltd. — incorporated in Georgia in 1982. This shirt carries its ©1984 R.E.M./Athens, Ltd. mark from the year of Reckoning, with Michael Stipe reduced to these strange, almost disappearing black-and-white photographs.
